Curriculum Innovation Through Accelerator Integration to Foster Entrepreneurship in Sarawak

The TEGAS Accelerator Program plays a critical role in fostering entrepreneurial skills among university students in Sarawak, aligning with the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030). This study investigates the impact of the program on students’ entrepreneurial intentions by integrating Social Cognitive Theory (SCT) and the Entrepreneurial Event Model (EEM) to assess changes in self-efficacy, perceived desirability, feasibility, and propensity to act. This study uniquely explores how integrating the TEGAS Accelerator into university curricula can align entrepreneurial education with Sarawak’s Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030. The aim is to assess how this alignment fosters innovation and commercialization skills among students. Utilizing a mixed-methods approach, quantitative data from pre- and post-program surveys are supplemented with qualitative insights from interviews and focus group discussions. Findings reveal significant improvements across all constructs, confirming that the TEGAS Program mediates the development of entrepreneurial intentions. The study underscores the importance of integrating government-backed programs like TEGAS into university curricula to foster innovation and align with economic development strategies. Future research could explore longitudinal effects and broader participant demographics to further validate these findings.
