Biodiversity Conservation and Ecological Civilization Construction in Yunnan Province
摘要
Yunnan is known for its biological diversity, having species richness and a wide range of habitats and ecosystems. Besides, there are large numbers of endemic, threatened, and rare species. Yunnan has been identified and designated as ‘Center of Plant Diversity’ and ‘Global 200 List Priority Ecoregion’ for biodiversity conservation. Given the cultural ecological diversity, especially in an ethnic minority dominated region, the chapter argues that preserving natural ecosystems has made Yunnan famous for its world heritage sites. What efforts have been made by the provincial government for biodiversity conservation? How have provincial priorities towards ecological protection moved in consonance with the Central policy initiative of ecological Civilization?
