Yunnan’s Practices and Experiences in Poverty Alleviation
摘要
Through poverty alleviation campaigns, China has successfully eliminated absolute poverty in rural areas, leading to significant changes in the rural landscape. This includes a rapid increase in the income levels of rural residents, substantial improvements in the living and production conditions in rural areas, and a renewed sense of optimism among rural communities. Yunnan, once one of the poorest provinces in China, provides valuable insights into China’s poverty alleviation practices. To understand these practices, it is essential to recognize the unified efforts and plans implemented by the state. Yunnan has taken several key steps: clarifying poverty alleviation standards to solve the problem of ‘who should be supported’, building a support system to solve the problem of ‘who will support’, implementing targeted measures to determine ‘how to support’, adhere to standards to solve the problem of ‘how to exit from poverty identification’, monitoring poverty prevention to address the question of ‘how to maintain stability and avoid a return to poverty’. Following the eradication of absolute poverty, China has put forward and is implementing the Rural Revitalization Strategy, which aims to achieve the comprehensive modernization of agriculture and rural areas.
