Research on International Communication Capability Building of Yunnan Province in South and Southeast Asia
摘要
Yunnan, a frontier province of China, serves as a window and hub centre connecting the country with South and Southeast Asia. The province enjoys a long-standing connection with neighbouring countries and regions, making it crucial for fostering goodwill, aspiration, and confidence among the people of China and its neighbours. After years of dedicated efforts, Yunnan has established an international communication system oriented towards South and Southeast Asia. The system is centred around mainstream media and supported by educational and academic institutions. Additionally, it emphasizes language training and encourages participation from a wide range of civil society. This chapter summarizes the achievements of Yunnan’s international communication with South and Southeast Asia while identifying some existing challenges. These challenges include a limited scope of coverage, a shortage of qualified professionals, underdeveloped internet media, outdated technology, and a lack of focus on audience needs.
