Erigeron breviscapus (Vant.) Hand.-Mazz., commonly known as short-stemmed fleabane and light incense herb, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the aster family, Asteraceae. This medicinal plant thrives on sunlit slopes, among grasslands, at forest edges, and beneath sparse forests at elevations ranging from 1100 to 3500 meters. It is distributed across Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Guangxi, and Hunan provinces, with over 95% of the nation’s supply of Erigeron breviscapus medicinal material produced in Yunnan. The annual cultivation area is maintained at around 10,000 mu, primarily in regions including Honghe, Qujing, Dali, Kunming, Yuxi, and Chuxiong, with Honghe and Qujing as the main production areas.
