Climate Risk Communication in Indonesia: New Directions for Gender Equality and Sustainability
摘要
The future of climate risk communication in Indonesia requires a more inclusive and sustainable approach that prioritizes gender equality. As a highly vulnerable country, Indonesia faces increasing threats from extreme weather, rising sea levels, and environmental degradation, which disproportionately impact women, indigenous groups, and marginalized communities. Limited access to climate information, social norms, and economic inequalities further weaken their ability to adapt. This chapter examines Indonesia’s existing climate risk communication and explores innovative strategies that combine scientific knowledge, local wisdom, and digital tools to communicate climate risks more effectively while addressing gender disparities. It examines current challenges, policy gaps, and best practices, highlighting the importance of participatory and community-driven approaches. Finally, this chapter highlights that incorporating gender-responsive communication into climate policies and initiatives can enhance Indonesia’s resilience, promote inclusive adaptation strategies, and foster a fair and sustainable future for everyone.
