摘要
The normal middle ear and mastoid are air-filled structures. Opacification of middle ear and mastoid can occur due to variety of causes The HRCT appearance of these various etiologies has considerable overlap and requires correlation with clinical symptoms and signs to arrive at a proper diagnosis. Hence, reviewing the clinical notes and discussing with the referring physician are of paramount importance in arriving at a proper diagnosis. The role of HRCT is more oriented toward assessing the extent of the disease rather than providing the histological or etiological diagnosis.
