Antimicrobial Activity (E. coli and S. aureus) of Composites Film Based on Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) and Nano Cellulose-Latex Filler for Packaging Applications
摘要
The contemporary demand for food packaging necessitates systems that maintain food quality without relying heavily on chemical preservatives. Growing concerns about environmental impacts caused by synthetic polymers have encouraged the development of packaging materials derived from biodegradable biopolymers. This study investigates the antimicrobial characteristics of composite films combining polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) with nano cellulose and latex for use in food packaging. The films were fabricated using a casting approach. Their antimicrobial performance was evaluated against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, with both pure PVA films and the composite variants demonstrating inhibitory effects on bacterial growth. These findings underscore the potential of such films in developing active biodegradable packaging.
