Managing Heritage Asset: Issues, Challenges, and the Future of Historic Building in Sagan Area

Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta is a cultural heritage area with unique cultural governance with diverse heritage values that have to be preserved. To manage the heritage assets, regulations are required for protection, conservation, and promotion of cultural assets. In this case, a collaboration between stakeholders is essential to unlocking their social and economic potentials. This research explores the complexities of managing heritage assets, examining current issues, future challenges, and potential solutions. This study focuses on one of the heritage assets in Sagan. Built in 1930, this building served as a residence for Dutch individuals during the Indies era. This research used a mixed-method approach that combined observation and literature review to delve into current issues and future challenges. The findings of this research offer valuable insights to the government by informing successful future practices on heritage asset management.
