摘要

This research discusses the sustainability of rumoh Aceh, from the phenomenon of rumoh Aceh displacement and changes in living tradition. The displacement of rumoh Aceh is not a new thing in Acehnese society. Dismantling, moving, and reassembling of traditional houses has become popular in Aceh after the Tsunami. Rumoh Aceh, which was found in many villages, was moved to the city of Banda Aceh. Rumoh Aceh, a traditional Acehnese dwelling, began to be abandoned by its residents and replaced by more modern forms of housing. The desire of the people in the city to maintain the existence of rumoh Aceh has led to the phenomenon of moving rumoh Aceh from the village to the town. Rumoh Aceh, as a cultural heritage passed down from generation to generation, is a cultural product resulting from religious norms, local customs, habits, and conditions. Cultural changes can occur from moving Rumoh Aceh to a new location. However, the phenomenon of moving also shows the sustainability of rumoh Aceh as a cultural heritage that is maintained by those living in the city of Banda Aceh. The research uses a descriptive-qualitative method, which includes observation, documentation, and interviews to provide a narrative of the tradition of moving rumoh Aceh and its sustainability. The results show that the tradition of living in rumoh Aceh has changed as a result of the practice of moving which creates a new role for the rumoh Aceh.
