The Correlation Between Third Place and Flow Theory on Coffee Shop Preference in Bandung, Indonesia
摘要
Regarding the increasing trend of coffee shops in Indonesia, Bandung is considered one of the pioneers. These coffee shops create a new lifestyle that has been trending, such as coffee shop hopping and working from a cafe. These activities define coffee shops as third places since they are not just physical locations but also social spaces that contribute to the overall well-being of individuals and society. This paper discusses individuals’ coffee shop preference based on the third place theory. Using data obtained from 103 open questionnaires, the data was analyzed using a coding qualitative approach. This study aims to identify how location choice impacts flow levels and users’ well-being based on the physical and visual activities and motivations of the third-place experience. Understanding these factors can contribute to designing sustainable and future-oriented urban spaces that prioritize well-being and human connection, fostering environments conducive to optimal human experience and productivity.
