摘要

In a communal living, socio-spatial dimensions should be reimagined and spatial configuration should be prioritized over architectural forms. Housing micro-planning plays a crucial role in promoting well-being of individuals and communities. This study delves into how the urban renewal of Kampung Deret Petogogan in Jakarta has impacted the community’s socio-economic structure by altering spatial configurations. The spatial attributes such as integration, connectivity, and mean depth of Kampung Deret Petogogan were compared to the neighboring Kampung, which tend to develop in an organic pattern, using space syntax. The results indicate that urban renewal has significantly improved Kampung Deret Petogogan’s spatial configuration, resulting in better connectivity and integration as well as reducing the mean depth, hence enhancing social cohesion and economic opportunities for its residents. However, the reduced mean depth potentially decreases the diversity of spatial configuration. This study highlights the importance of spatial upgrading in urban renewal processes, emphasizing that equal access to spatial resources and opportunities is essential for creating an inclusive urban environment. This research showcases the potential of such initiatives to address the challenges faced by informal settlement residents, promoting a more equitable urban morphology.
