Visitors’ Perception of Kampung Pujokusuman (Magersari Area) During Dance Performance Event

The area of Kampung Pujokusuman, particularly the magersari area, is focused on preserving traditional dance art in the Yogyakarta style. This kampung tends to be quiet on weekdays but has a different atmosphere when there are Yayasan Pamulangan Beksa Sasminta Mardawa (YPBSM) Dance Performance activities. The atmosphere of the area can be experienced through sight and sound. The way humans perceive the auditory and visual characteristics of a place can greatly impact their overall perception of that place. This article explores how the human perception of auditory and visual qualities contributes to the sense of place in a specific location. The study employs a quantitative approach, using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and regression analysis methods to examine this relationship. Seven dimensions defined the atmosphere of the Pujokusuman event: vibrant, tranquil, boisterous, vivid, distinctiveness, comfortable, and attractive. At the same time, attachment, involvement, and unfamiliarity describe the sense of place. Atmosphere qualities significantly influence the attachment dimension. The dimensions of vibrancy, distinctiveness, comfort, and attractiveness have a significant impact on the attachment dimension. The quality of the atmosphere significantly influences feelings of attachment in a cultural kampung through cultural activities.
