Blue Economy on Economic Growth in the ASEAN Region

This study aims to analyze the influence of blue economy on economic growth in the short and long term in the ASEAN region. The method used is the Autoregressive Distributed Lag Panel (ARDL), with a data period of 2000 to 2021. The results showed that in the short term, CO2 energy intensity has a negative impact while CO2 emission has a positive impact on economic growth. In the long run, aquaculture production, agriculture, forestry, and fishing value added, total fisheries production, labor, and population have a positive impact, while CO2 emissions have a negative impact on economic growth in ASEAN. ASEAN can strengthen the blue economy sector by allocating funds for maritime infrastructure, launching economic empowerment programs for fishermen, strengthening sustainable management of marine resources, and enacting fiscal incentives for green technologies in maritime operations.
