Nonlinear Coupled Surface Waves

In this chapter we study the propagation of coupled surface electromagnetic waves in a circular cylindrical waveguide (Goubau line) filled with a Kerr medium. We prove the existence of a new propagation regime in which the field is a superposition of two independent waves (TE and TM) that together generate a nonlinear polarization in the coating-what we call a coupled TE–TM wave. The TE and TM constituents that form this state are referred to as pseudo–TE and pseudo–TM waves
