Teaching and Learning 21st Century Skills—Collaboration and Communication in Formal and Informal Educational Settings: An Introduction

Collaborative learning is a pedagogical practice that has been used extensively in classrooms to promote student engagement and learning. When students collaborate, they learn to listen to what others have to say, give and receive assistance, discuss different opinions and perspectives and, in so doing, develop mutual understandings of the topic under discussion. In fact, talk is so important that it is now recognized as more than a means of sharing thoughts.
