Hybrid Control Converter Based on FCS-MPC for Frequency Response and Voltage Profile Improvement Considering Effect of Distribution Line in Microgrid

This work presents the hybrid grid forming-following converter as a robust control strategy for voltage source converters (VSCs). The proposed control scheme synthesises the complementary advantages of grid-forming and following control schemes. Subsequently, the enhancement in the frequency response and voltage profile is achieved. Besides, the contributed controller is designed based on the finite control set-model predictive control (FCS-MPC) algorithm, which shows great response against the load variation in different strengths scenarios of the point of common coupling (PCC). The simulation was conducted using the MATLAB/Simulink environment, with the result being the comparison between the proposed and conventional grid-following strategies. The simulation results show the superiority in performance of the hybrid approach.
