Design and Construction of Wind Turbine Emulator for Studying Wind Power Generation System

This paper proposes the design and construction of a wind turbine emulator for study a wind power generation system, using the wind turbine simulation method with induction motors. The objective is to inspect the performance and quantity of producing 3-phase power through simulating the operation of wind turbines at multiple wind speeds. A computer program and mechanical components were used to create the wind turbine emulator. The emulator consists of an induction motor and an encoder, handled with an inverter, and is connected to a permanent magnet synchronous generator from a comparable wind turbine. Mathematical equations from the LabVIEW program are used to calculate motor torque, and the ANSYS program is used to simulate wind turbine blade data.
