Research Progress of Stress Corrosion Susceptibility Assessment of Materials Based on Small Punch Testing

This paper mainly introduces the research progress of the application of small punch test technology in the stress corrosion sensitivity assessment of materials. Through literature review and investigation, the results show that the application of small punch test technology in the field of stress corrosion sensitivity assessment is not widespread. The small punch bar stress corrosion test has the advantages of micro-damage sampling and short test period. However, at present, researchers have not formed a unified understanding of how to effectively characterize the stress corrosion sensitivity of the obtained data, and how to determine the correlation and unity between the sensitivity index and the traditional slow strain rate tensile test. Moreover, the evaluation mechanism has obvious deficiencies, and there is a lack of quantitative indicators. So a lot of experimental research and data accumulation are still needed to evaluate the stress corrosion sensitivity of materials by using the small punch method.
