Pharmacological Interventions for Myopia Control
摘要
Myopia has emerged as a public health concern. Progressive myopia characterized by increasing axial length is associated with higher risk of life-threatening complications such as retinal detachment and glaucoma. While optical correction remains the cornerstone in managing myopia, recent advances in pharmacological interventions have shown promise in slowing down progression of myopia. Here we will be discussing the most commonly used drug in slowing progressive myopia, atropine, mechanism of action, evidence supporting its use, and adverse effects.
