The surge in the number of cases of myopia in the last few decades has generated the interest of research communities and prompted an increased effort towards understanding the causes of this increase in incidence of myopia. This chapter traces the evolutionary path towards development of myopia and provides evolutionary cues which have contributed towards greater understanding of this condition.
