Airworthiness Safety Management Systems and the Role of Logistics in Military Aviation: A Case Study Analysis

Airworthiness Safety Management Systems (SMS) are vital for enhancing aviation safety by mitigating risks and promoting improvement. In military aviation, integrating logistics into the SMS is crucial for ensuring safety and mission readiness. This research investigates the impact of delays in logistical processes, particularly those related to spare parts, on safety outcomes in military aviation. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study analyzed the problem through empirical data and employed regression and mediation analysis. Thereafter, the findings and recommendations were assessed via the Delphi method to reach a consensus among industry experts. The results underscore the need for a comprehensive SMS approach in military aviation, highlighting logistics as one of the key safety components. Recommendations include developing integrated frameworks for logistics and safety, enhancing training programs, and utilizing data-driven tools to mitigate risks. Effective logistics management is shown to improve the resilience and reliability of military operations, ultimately protecting lives and assets in high-risk situations.
