Migrants are undergoing transition as they adapt to their new homes. Consequently, migrant experiences vary from those that have not migrated. Research with migrants and other CALD communities has historically been extractive, with little room to learn from community members. These things are surprising and harmful given migrants are a growing group globally. When studying human experiences, and specifically when studying CALD migrant experiences, methodologies need to be adapted so research conducted is better able to reflect nuances of migrant experiences. This includes everything from research design to executing this research. This chapter draws on the researcher’s experience working as a peer researcher with international students and repeat migrants across multiple projects. The chapter reflects on inclusive research design, including adapting methodologies to capture data that is appreciative of the complexities of migrant experiences and the challenges to being a peer researcher. It concludes with recommendations for inclusive research design and recommendations for peer researchers.
