This chapter provides a comprehensive review and analysis of the historical, current, and future development trends in curve and surface technology in ship CAD (Computer-Aided Design). The article begins with an overview of the evolution from basic parameter curves in ship design to complex Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS) curves, highlighting current research hot spots. It then delves into 3D curve and surface modeling technology in ship CAD, with a particular focus on NURBS technology, which is widely used for its precision and flexibility in representing complex geometries.
