Analysis and Research on Crack Defects in a Large Settlement Tank Spherical Head
摘要
During the regular inspection process of a certain catalyst settling tank, it was found through ultrasonic testing that there were defects exceeding the standard at the splicing weld of its spherical head. To further confirm the types of defects, explore the causes of defects, develop reasonable welding processes, and repair excessive defects, this article uses TOFD and phased array detection technology to retest the defects, and analyzes the causes of defects based on welding and heat treatment processes. The results indicate that the defect is a crack, which is consistent with the cross-sectional results after cutting the weld seam; the cracking of weld seams is influenced by the content of metal elements, welding cooling rate, and heat treatment process. It is necessary to develop a reasonable welding process to avoid the occurrence of cracks.
