Effectiveness of Cryotherapy and Hydro Collator Pack in Iliotibial Band Tightness Patients – Comparative Study by Using SPSS Software
摘要
Iliotibial band tightness in football affects the thigh and knee, causing pain during knee movement. Maintaining knee stability is crucial for jogging, walking, and cycling. A study examined cryotherapy and Kinesio taping to reduce tightness and enhance range of motion. Hydro collator packs provided deep heat, promoting vasodilation and blood flow. The study compared cryotherapy with foam rolling and hydro collator packs with foam rolling in recreational football players. This study compares cryotherapy (15 min intermittently) with foam rolling (60 s, 3 sets) to hydro collator packs (10 min intermittently at 42–45 °C) with foam rolling (60 s, 3 sets) over 5 days per week for 1 month. Fifty recreational football players aged 18–25 with IT band tightness and a positive Ober’s test were divided into two groups (n = 25 each). The study aims to determine the effectiveness of each approach in improving IT band tightness and pain. Comparative analysis, using paired t test and unpaired t test found that the mean values of VAS and LEFS showed statistically significant difference (p 0.0001). When the pre intervention mean values and post intervention mean values were compared between two groups. This study demonstrates an improvement in hydro collator pack along with foam roller. However, hydro collator pack group show statistically significant improvements than cryotherapy group in reducing the tightness of iliotibial band muscle.
