Facility layout planning (FLP) is an important part of enhancing operational efficiency to minimize material handling costs and optimize spatial arrangements within manufacturing systems. This study proposes an improved metaheuristic approach. This study investigates two metaheuristics, Simulated Annealing and Biased Simulated Annealing algorithm to solve the Facility layout planning. The objective is to minimize the total material handling cost. From the result, the Biased SA outperformed the SA, both in terms of solution quality and convergence rate. The enhanced method is especially effective in handling problems with high-flow networks or specific constraints. This study shows the advantages of integrating mechanisms into metaheuristic structures for effective layout problems.
