There is not much difference between market economy and commodity economy. In a book published in 1988, I wrote: “It is generally believed that market economy exists only in capitalist society or under the condition of private ownership. But this view is not exactly correct. Is it possible to produce and exchange commodities without markets? Can commodity economy become a reality without the market? In fact, the existence of the market is a precondition for the production and exchange of commodities, as they provide the necessary mechanisms for transactions.
