Since the reform and opening up, China’s economy has achieved unprecedented development, and the country’s total economic output has jumped to the second place in the world, with a per capita GDP of more than 7000 US dollars. On the other hand, the gap between the rich and the poor is widening, and the social strata are increasingly divided and complicated. Before the reform and opening up, the Gini coefficient of our society was generally recognized as 0.2, but by the mid-1990s, it had already exceeded 0.4. The social structure has changed from two classes (working stratum and peasant stratum) and one stratum (intellectual stratum) before the reform and opening up to a multi-stratum and multi-social stratum structure. Some scholars divide the social groups in China into ten strata and five grades (Xueyi Lu, 2002). Whether or not we agree with the stratumification method of “Top Ten Strata”, it is undeniable that the current Chinese society has entered a stage where wealth and strata are seriously divided.

摘要
