This chapter discusses the human-centered design of educational metaverses that seamlessly integrates the virtual and real-world experiences. The foundation of this approach is to uphold the essence of education and adhere to fundamental teaching principles. The key strategy is the integration of online education with immersive learning, ensuring a cohesive blend of virtual and physical classrooms for an enriched educational experience. To achieve this, the chapter presents a human-centered immersive interactive computing system framework and a technical paradigm for virtual-real fusion. It introduces four virtual-real fused teaching systems, leveraging advanced AR, VR, and natural human–computer interaction technologies, including kinesthetic interaction and hand gestures. These systems enable immersive interactive teaching without requiring teachers and students to wear or attach additional equipment, allowing for a seamless convergence of the digital and physical world. This research aims to identify the best practices for applying the metaverse in educational settings, offering insights into its potential to transform learning experiences.

摘要
