When we study the regularity of a pattern or geometrical object, it is a good idea to apply various transformations to the object and see if each result is identical to the original. In this chapter we will focus on geometrical objects on the xy-plane. We will apply various transformations to them such as parallel translations, rotations, and reflections. Given a pattern, we try to find the set of transformations that preserve the pattern.
