The microstructure of ESR ingots is highly dense, with a uniform composition. These ingots exhibit excellent processing plasticity across a broad temperature range, enabling an increase in yield rate by 9–18%, which sufficiently offsets all remelting costs. The ESR ingots can be rolled into steel plates that demonstrate superior mechanical properties. Compared to conventional steel plates, the transverse plasticity and toughness are significantly enhanced, as well as other critical indicators such as anisotropy, fracture toughness, notch sensitivity, and low-cycle fatigue resistance. Additionally, ESR steel plates possess excellent weldability and resistance to low-temperature cold brittleness.
