Ranking of Priority Sequencing Rules Based on Performance Measures in Scheduling
摘要
In manufacturing companies, it is crucial to schedule several jobs in a proper sequence to reduce the job’s overall completion time and the cost associated with it. The conflicting criteria might have a significant impact on sequencing these jobs. Further, these criteria may have different weights as per their importance. Also, as the number of jobs increases, the numerous computations required makes it harder to sequence these jobs. In this research paper, six jobs are considered to be processed on a machine one at a time considering it as a single machine problem. Seven alternative priority sequencing rules are considered that offer seven diverse sequencing possibilities for scheduling the jobs that are evaluated against a set of nine performance measures as criteria. Best Holistic Adaptable Ranking of Attributes Technique (BHARAT), a multi-criterion decision making method is used to allot the weights to criteria by ranking them with respect to scheduling the jobs and later rank the seven priority sequencing rules from best to worst. This technique is effective and easy to use to assign the weights to the criteria. The BHARAT technique and its version is applied to a reference problem from the prior research work, and the results produced are shown to be matching and accurate.
