Evolution of AI in Higher Education

Over the past ten years, integration of AI in higher education has changed from application in sub-conventional modes to enhancement of learning experiences. Briefly, this review assesses the development of AI technologies and their utilization in higher education, particularly concerning achievement of SDG 4: Quality Education through potential AI. As it enables personalized learning, administrative tasks, and provides intelligent tutoring systems, AI encourages quality education for all among other principles. The paper also tackles the operational and ethical issues that arise out of the use of AI technologies in learning settings such as low and negative bias/ prejudice, privacy of data and the digital gap. At the same time and in correlation to the topic being discussed in this review, the future tendencies of education revolutionized by AI technologies emphasize such cutting-edge forms as adaptive learning, AI assessments, and virtual learning. Finally, the review evaluates the changing trends in AI- enabled education towards support of lifelong learning and sustenance of lifelong education by providing ideas on how AI will help realize the world education goals.
