摘要

In the present digital era, cybersecurity threats rapidly change, posing difficulties that surpass conventional defense mechanisms. Although numerous proprietary security solutions exist, they frequently entail substantial cost and restricted flexibility, hindering their adoption and adaptability to evolving threat environments. This demonstrates a significant deficiency in the availability of economical and scalable cybersecurity solutions, especially for resource-constrained enterprises. This chapter showcases the need for a thorough assessment of open-source cybersecurity solutions to address these limitations. To fulfil this gap, our research methodically examines the realm of open-source cybersecurity technologies, highlighting their capacity to provide a robust, adaptable, and cost-effective multi-layered protection system, their potential to offer a resilient, adaptive, and financially accessible multi-tiered defense framework. We propose a novel six-layered model that integrates these tools into a cohesive strategy, covering detection and prevention, endpoint protection, investigation and recovery, SIEM, IAM, and security awareness and training. This paradigm promotes collaboration strategies, using creativity that drives the community to strengthen the internet position. This study is looking for companies to develop a strong cyberspace, which is based on the extent of the problem.
