Orthogonality

  • Md. Jalil Piran

摘要

Orthogonality is a cornerstone of linear algebra, serving as a guiding principle for understanding and navigating high-dimensional vector spaces. Just as a compass provides direction, orthogonality allows us to measure lengths, angles, and distances, and to identify independent directions in a space. By analyzing how vectors relate to each other through concepts like the dot product and norms, we can uncover the structure of complex systems and simplify computations. This chapter introduces the fundamental ideas of orthogonality, including orthogonal complements, projections, and the decomposition of vectors into orthogonal components, providing a strong foundation for both theoretical understanding and practical implementation.
