This chapter sets out the research design. It combines a place-based ethnography across three large PRH estates with 120 in-depth interviews and sustained site observations focused on bus loops, school gates, shopfront thresholds, stairwells, and plazas. The chapter explains sampling, access, ethics, and analysis; describes instruments and coding strategies used to follow household decisions across work, schooling, and neighbourhood life; and justifies a “low-camera” method that treats routines and micro-adjustments as primary evidence for the production of space. It also discusses positionality, translation, and reliability steps, and directs readers to appendices for survey frames, interview guides, and extended tables. By specifying how evidence is generated and interpreted, the chapter provides transparency and a replicable template for studying the everyday consequences of state-led housing at metropolitan scale.
