It May Not Be a Simple Seizure
摘要
Beatrice is a 27-month-old girl admitted in the morning for an episode of generalized-tonic clonic (GTC) seizure with uprolling eyes and loss of consciousness for 3–4 min. The seizure stopped spontaneously but recurred an hour later and was aborted by rectal diazepam at the A&E department. She developed the third episode of GTC, and a dose of intravenous phenytoin aborted it. The history revealed low-grade fever, cough, running nose and gastroenteritis symptoms lasting 3 days before admission. Her blood test showed a serum albumin of 14 g/dL and urine albustix of 4+. Upon further questioning, the parents noticed Beatrice had puffy eyelids for almost 2 weeks. Do these symptoms have a connection, and what further manifestations may occur?
