Creating a Versatile Communication Space: Taking Shijiezi Village as an Example
摘要
This project designs a multifunctional art education space taking Shijiezi Village as a pilot site, which can bridge gaps in rural education and spiritual development. The starting point of this project calls for cultural revitalization in China’s rural areas. Based on phenomenology of perception, this project emphasizes the importance of sensory experience and interaction. It employs a modular wooden structure with detachable components, allowing for flexible transformations into spaces for craft workshops, gatherings, and art exhibitions as needed. Therefore, this versatile space can integrate education, creation, interaction, and recreation, serving both villagers and visitors. The space not only fosters collaboration between schools and the village which can promote cultural exchange, but also contributes to the local economy through visitor engagement and artwork sales, enhancing villagers’ sense of well-being and cultural confidence. Finally, the project offers a replicable model for integrating art education and cultural renewal, providing a pathway for similar rural areas to blend cultural and tourism development.
