Spatial Interference Hazards and Solutions Informed by Urbanimmunology
摘要
This chapter explores the concept of spatial interference hazards and unveils innovative solutions rooted in the principles of Urbanimmunology. Drawing from the core principles—Critical Dependency, Avoidance, Tolerance, Adaptation, Regulation, Coordination, Diversity, Robustilient Regeneration, and Coherence—the chapter examines a wide range of threats stemming from the physical, environmental, and infrastructural characteristics of spaces, including both natural and human-made risks. These hazards include beneath-the-surface risks, structural and infrastructure failures, landslides, flooding and stormwater challenges, human-wildlife conflicts, skyfall incidents, windstorm-driven traffic disruptions, multimodal interaction conflicts, low-altitude aircraft and aviation dangers, mass gathering risks, and tourism overcrowding. After illustrating each hazard, the chapter identifies commonalities that link them. It presents integrated, adaptive, and resilient strategies to confront these challenges, ensuring the long-term safety, functionality, and sustainability of urban and regional spaces. These solutions not only protect environments but also empower them to regenerate and thrive in the face of spatial interference hazards.
