This chapter introduces the concept of Urbanimmunology, an emergent and transformative discipline proposed by the author. Drawing inspiration from human immune intelligence (HII), Urbanimmunology seeks to redefine the paradigms of cities and society. It derives scientific principles from HII and develops a conceptual framework where cities and society are equipped with systems capable of sensing, responding to, and assimilating the lessons of disruption. Subsequent chapters explore the practical applications of this discipline, focusing on key areas such as energy systems, disaster management, underground infrastructure, spatial interference hazards, general urban and social systems, and policy process management. Urbanimmunology envisions cities and society as dynamic, living organisms—constantly evolving and adapting to the interplay of internal complexities and external uncertainties. It offers a fresh scientific and practical perspective on future cities and society, emphasizing their complexity, regenerative capacity, and resilience in navigating dynamic uncertainty.
