Generative AI for Classroom Orchestration: Cultivating Inquiry and Student Agency in Learning

This chapter explores the use of Generative Artificial intelligence (GenAI), such as ChatGPT, in classroom settings, focusing on its role in enhancing teaching and learning beyond individual use. It discusses how teachers can integrate GenAI into lesson co-designs and curriculum needs, including how it can aid in deeper classroom inquiry and assessments. The chapter emphasizes the shift in mindset for teachers and students towards using AI for developing critical thinking, creativity, empathy, and lifelong learning, highlighting GenAI’s potential in bridging traditional classroom education with personalized learning approaches. In the latter part of this chapter, a study on classroom orchestration with GenAI use is described and discussed.
