This chapter examines the socioeconomic and educational impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Uzbekistani students enrolled in Japanese language schools, vocational colleges, and universities. Using survey data from 96 respondents, the authors analyse how lockdowns, job losses, and remote learning disrupted students’ income, mental health, academic engagement, and daily life. The chapter highlights the acute vulnerability of international students in Japan, who rely heavily on part-time work and lack family support networks. It also identifies institutional gaps in support systems for foreign students during crises. The authors argue for more robust emergency assistance mechanisms, improved communication, and targeted policy responses to safeguard international students during future disruptions.

摘要
