This fruit is native to the tropical and subtropical regions of South America, with some cultivation also occurring in select areas of India. Its seeds are processed to extract oil, while the residual seed meal, obtained through cold-pressing, retains valuable fatty acids and phenolic compounds. As a result, the seeds are rich in nutritional and bioactive substances, including various vitamins such as A, B2, and C. They show promise as potential agents against cancer, hypertension, and diabetes. This chapter offers a comprehensive analysis of the phytochemical composition, health benefits, and industrial applications of the fruit. It highlights the extensive uses of the seeds and their contribution to sustainable agriculture, environmental health, and nutrition. By enhancing postharvest technologies, improving agronomic practices, and maximizing waste valorization, we can boost the commercial viability of these seeds.
