This paper gives a brief introduction to Data Envelopment Analysis, which is a linear programming based method, that is designed to evaluate the efficiency of decision making units. Examples of it application to the healthcare, and the aviation industry in Mexico are presented. The goal is to illustrate the flexibility and advantages of using this method and later discuss the difficulties in applying it.
