A 12-Bit 1Gs/s Pipeline ADC for Intelligent Manufacturing and IoT
摘要
With the arrival of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0), intelligent manufacturing and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies are rapidly changing the face of traditional industries. In this process, the pipeline analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a sampling rate of GHz plays an indispensable role. They not only improve the speed and accuracy of data collection, but also provide strong technical support for the implementation of Industry 4.0 and the IoT. However, traditional pipeline ADC has certain limitations in terms of speed, so a new first stage pipeline ADC structure is pro-posed in this paper, which utilizes the time of sampling and holding stages reasonably through different switching of switches, ensuring stable operation faster. The design methods for operational amplifier and comparator are also proposed, effectively enhancing the ADC’s overall performance. The entire circuit is designed using 12 nm technology under power supply of 1.8 V. The simulation results show that at a sampling frequency of 1GHz, when the input signal frequency is less than 400 M, the effective number of bits (ENOB) of the ADC can more than 9.9 bits, and the spurious free dynamic range (SFDR) exceeds 76 dB. When the input signal is 20 MHz, the ENOB of the ADC is 10.7bits and the SFDR is 78.4 dB. Compared with traditional methods, the performance has been improved, thus meeting the demand for fast data response in industrial environments.
