Food Museum: Curriculum and Venue Development for Food Education in Kindergartens

Building on years of practical research from previous kindergarten nutrition and health education pilot project, this project aims to create a space for children’s active exploration and diversified growth through a comprehensive food museum curriculum. This initiative relies on the development of the “Food Museum” software and hardware, as well as other digital resources, to address typical challenges in advanced kindergarten nutrition and health education, such as general objectives, fragmented content, and limited resources. The approach of food museum curriculum addresses these challenges by advanced nutrition and health education in kindergartens of the advanced stage, aiming to meet the needs of cultivating children’s nutrition and health literacy. Specifically, this project constructs a comprehensive space, where exhibits are knowledge and children can learn while visiting. The food museum is where food education happens. In essence, this study has pioneered a novel method to enhance children’s nutrition and health literacy, using “Food Museum” as the primary activity carrier.
