This chapter critically examines the history of Filipino migration to Australia by presenting the three known historical ‘waves’ of migration and locating the place of musicians in such migration cohorts. Building on the migration patterns discussed in this chapter, I examine the distribution of Filipino migrants in Australia, offering insights into their temporal and spatial mobilities. This critical discussion of migration waves serves as a foundation for questioning where Filipino musicians fit within these classifications and in the participation of Filipinos in the industry.
