Despite the availability of national and international guidelines and protocols for the determination of brain death, there are several areas of contention, including but not limited to pregnancy, primary posterior fossa injury, the number of examinations required, and so on. This chapter attempts to elucidate these gray areas pertaining to the determination of brain death or death by neurologic criteria (BD/DNC).
