Tunnel Defect Assessment Using 3D-Point Cloud
摘要
Tunnels are underground passages used for transportation and an attractive solution for railways, roadways, public utilities, and telecommunications. In Malaysia, some of these tunnels had been commissioned to be used since the twentieth century. Therefore, regular monitoring and maintenance are critical to ensure the service life of the tunnels. The application of terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) has recently attracted interest in engineering and construction due to its highly automated, reduced on-site, and non-contact operation capabilities. This paper presents a systematic approach to tunnel assessment using the 3D point cloud. The major applications in tunnel assessment are categorized into 3D model reconstruction, quality assessment based on Q-system, and support condition identification. Several defects were found on the tunnel surface such as effloresce, corrosion, deterioration, and water leakage. Finally, the future research directions will be an extensive data integration of tunnel conditions which can be used to predict the tunnel health condition.
